Attorney Profiles Brittiny L. Carter Tacoma, Washington
Brittiny has proved her legal ability the first time she appeared before a judge. She represented the mother in a divorce and child custody case, and the father had sexually abused their children. My client was just terrified the father would still be able to be around their kids, Carter recalls. The case was emotionally and legally challenging. But Brittiny and her co-counsel won. The father has no contact with the children. They and their mother are re-building their lives. Brittiny accomplished that while still in law school, as a legal intern for the Ronald A. Peterson Law Clinic of Seattle University. She went on to graduate from the university magna cum laude. Her courage and determination made her a match for Lutz Law. She aggressively fights for clients' rights because she does not believe anyone should receive anything less, says founder David Lutz. An assistant attorney in our Tacoma office, Brittiny works closely with attorney Kate Stricker. She is there for clients in every stage of their case, from their first questions to final paperwork. When people are going through a family law issue, it's probably one of the worst times of their lives, she says. I'm attracted to the counseling aspect of family law. I have the legal skills and knowledge to help people through a difficult experience. Brittiny, a Montana native, moved to Washington to earn her B.S. in business administration summa cum laude at Gonzaga University in Spokane . Her undergraduate studies gave her a solid understanding of finance, including an ability to discern the value of property and other assets in her cases. She has a minor in Spanish and studied in Spain as part of her undergraduate degree. In her free time, Brittiny enjoys being outdoors. She is also a former volunteer with the Cross Cultural Family Law Clinic in Seattle.
