Daniel Cook, a partner in Lutz Law and supervising attorney of the firm's Tacoma office, is a powerhouse in court who can handle the toughest cases. The evidence? Consider the story of Richard V., a client who, during divorce proceedings, was falsely accused of spousal and child abuse.

Throughout the investigation that followed, Daniel remained positive and supportive about my chances of regaining contact with my children, Richard says. After four months of hard work and dedication on the part of Daniel Cook, I finally re-established contact with my children. Two weeks later, full custody of my children was transferred to me.

Daniel put the needs of my children at the forefront of his actions. After finding myself in what could be considered a worst-case scenario' divorce, Daniel helped re-unite and re-establish my relationship with my children so that we can focus on what is important: being a family."

Daniel has been with Lutz Law longer than any attorney other than Founder David Lutz. He is an experienced family law litigator, Lutz says. Dan is a tireless worker who goes the extra mile to make sure he is thoroughly prepared to present all facts and laws favorable to our clients.

As managing attorney, Daniel handles his own cases while supervising other attorneys and staff. He is passionate about giving clients sound advice that leads to well-informed decisions. An attorney has a tremendous impact on his clients, their children, and other parties, he says. We work together for months, and they live with the outcome. I take very seriously the lives that are entrusted to me.

A graduate of Oak Brook College of Law, in Fresno, California, Daniel joined Lutz Law as a paralegal while completing his law school degree and later served as an associate attorney with the firm.

Daniel's wife is also an attorney, but he jokes that they try not to talk over the family business at night. They have two young children. I understand what your kids mean and what it takes to parent them, Daniel says. When I'm at home, being with my family is what I enjoy most.

Client Testimonials

"Daniel Cook was informative, patient and resourceful from the very beginning of my custody case. He was able to find evidence for the court that showed I was in compliance with government officials when they were trying to say that I was not. He continually encouraged me as I completed the necessary steps to stay in compliance with them.

During this very difficult period of time, Daniel stressed the importance of a settlement conference rather than going to trial. He made this process as easy as he possibly could for my children and me. Even though it appeared we could never find any middle ground in our case, with Daniel's help I reached an agreement with the children's father which serves the best interest of our children as they grow older.

I feel that Daniel and the staff I worked with were very understanding and compassionate when I expressed my wishes. He began to know me more as a person and not just words on a piece of paper. He was always available to hear the latest changes in the situation I was in and to me these things are extremely important."

"Despite the issues between me and my wife, I still held out hope for a cooperative divorce that put the needs of our three young children first.

I contacted Daniel Cook and he immediately began working on my case. In the coming weeks I found myself falsely accused of abusing my wife and my children. The next several months consisted of hearings in multiple counties addressing very complicated legal issues. This process included investigations by CPS, a Guardian ad Litem, psychologists, and others.

Throughout the process, Daniel remained positive and supportive about my chances of regaining contact with my children. After four months of hard work and dedication on the part of Daniel Cook, I finally re-established contact with my children. Two weeks later, full custody of my children was transferred to me.

Now the children and I can focus on healing from the trauma they have been through. At the same time, Daniel has worked to build bridges with my wife's attorneys in order to establish what is best for my family. I have been impressed by Daniel's ability to strike a balance between establishing a good relationship with opposing counsel, while at the same time aggressively pursuing the best interests of my children and me. He has also been able to explain the legal process to me in a way that helps ameliorate the frustrations and concerns that are inherent in these situations.

Throughout this long and painful process, I feel that Daniel has put the needs of my children at the forefront of his actions. After finding myself in what could be considered a "worst case scenario" divorce, Daniel has helped re-unite and re-establish my relationship with my children so that we can focus on what is important: being a family."

Richard V.

"When I first started calling attorneys to get information on the divorce process I was not able to get real clear answers to my questions. When I spoke with Daniel he was willing to take the time to answer my questions and explain the process in terms I could understand. He did not push me. This really helped me during this emotional period of time and is the reason I decided to make an appointment with Lutz Law Offices.

When I started the divorce process I found Daniel to be supportive and willing to answer any questions or clarify any issue I had. Daniel seemed to understand my feeling, values and morals. Daniel walked my family and me through the billing process and because of the need to control costs he made suggestions on cost containment.

I would not hesitate to go back to Daniel if I should need to and I would definitely recommend him to my friends. I am very appreciative and pleased with his handling of my divorce and the time he spent with me."

"Dan Cook was a professional and highly competent attorney for my child custody case. His professionalism and level of expertise was invaluable to my case. I highly recommend Dan's services in the field of family law."

"I have great news for anyone who is in need of an attorney. You don't have to spend thousands of dollars and then cross your fingers that you've picked one that feels what you are going through, knows what to do and then gets it done!

I found Daniel Cook and he really explained to me my options and helped me call the shots as needed."

Peggy S.

"Daniel Cook negotiated a bitter dissolution for me. My dissolution seemed extremely hateful to me and my emotions ran high. I was tempted to become angry but Daniel pulled me aside, explained the details and helped me to remain calm throughout the process. By his positive reinforcement and hopeful outlook I was able to press on and we achieved an acceptable settlement. After the divorce my ex-wife failed to execute on some issues. Daniel Cook immediately drafted a letter threatening to hold her in contempt of court and seeking attorney fees. The issue was solved as quickly as it had risen."
